As we step into the new year, it’s the perfect time to set fresh resolutions and look for new opportunities. If one of your goals is to learn a new skill, why not start with something that can enhance both your personal and professional life?

In today’s digital age, having digital skills is more important than ever, and there are many organisations across Salford ready to help.

Many of our partners within the Digital Provider Network offer free or low cost digital skills courses to Salford residents with little to no digital experience. Alternatively, you can use the Digital Help Finder Tool to find out what's available in your area.

Below we have highlighted a few organisations delivering digital skills courses in Salford:

City Skills logo

 

City Skills, part of Salford City College Group, is offering free Essential Digital Skills courses to eligible Salford residents. 

Course Details:

Taster Essential Digital Skills: 1 week starting from Monday 13 January, 9:30 - 11:30

Introduction to Essential Digital Skills: 9 weeks starting from Monday 20 January, 9:30 - 12:30

Sovereign House logo

Sovereign House is delivering digital skills classes for adults over 50 years old from at Langworthy Cornerstone Centre, M6 5QQ on Tuesdays from 2 - 4pm and Fridays from 1 - 3pm

These classes aim to empower older adults by teaching them the skills to use technology, enhancing their lives and gaining independence in digital access. The structured lessons are adapted to help participants gain the necessary knowledge.

Corinth Training CIC logo

Corinth Training offers a range of digital courses. All courses are free to Salford residents who are over 19 years old. Courses start from Monday 13 January and are delivered from different locations across the city.

Digital courses include:

  • First Steps/Next Steps IT
  • First Steps IT for ESOL
  • Digital Daily Life
  • Beginners/Intermediate Microsoft Office
  • First Steps/Next Steps Spreadsheets and Databases
  • First Steps Photoshop
  • Next Steps Digital Photography

Please find below information on a few more organisations that are delivering digital skills sessions in 2025:

From Wednesday 15 January, Connect Talent will start delivering free digital skills classes. Classes run on Wednesdays and Thursdays for five weeks and will be delivered from their hub at St James' House, Pendleton.

Following the successful completion of the course learners will receive a certificate with 10 CPD points and six months of free data.

Delivering basic digital skills classes via drop-in sessions every Saturday from 2pm - 5pm. Sessions are delivered from the Community Room at Holm Court, Salford, M6 5FN.
