Salford's Tablet Gifting Scheme Closure

Applications closed for the tablet gifting scheme

This scheme is currently closed. We are now in the process of working through the hundreds of applications, each of which must be considered by our panel.

Salford’s Digital Providers Network secured 500 Lenovo tablets to gift to digitally excluded low-income residents, and after a fantastic response from the community we are closing down applications in order to process them all. Each application will be considered for approval by our panel. It may be that we refer you to a partner organisation that are offering a more suitable scheme to meet your needs once your application has been reviewed.

Successful applicants will receive wraparound support in using their tablet to ensure they feel safe, confident, and comfortable online. We can also identify free public access wi-fi in your area.

It’s part of Salford’s Digital Everyone drive – helping everyone benefit from the digital revolution and making sure no-one gets left behind.

The scheme is being run by the Salford Digital Providers Network which brings together the council and more than 40 community, third sector, private and partner organisations. We come together to coordinate and deliver digital inclusion activities for vulnerable and excluded residents. The network provides readily available and ongoing digital support via our online centres that are placed in the heart of our communities.

We hit our limit of applications in less than a month, highlighting very clearly how much the people of Salford want to get online. Here at the Digital Inclusion team we would love to offer a similar programme in the future, so keep an eye on Salford City Council's social media and the Digital Everyone website for announcements regarding any new schemes we are able to offer.

We are currently reviewing applications and distributing devices across the city. If you have submitted an application and have not had a response we will endeavour to respond as soon as possible once your application has been reviewed by the panel. We will be re-opening applications very soon so please watch this space!
