We have courses of different levels that will help you to improve your speaking, listening, reading and writing abilities in English as well as helping you to learn skills that are essential in the world of work, such as; teamwork and being able to talk to people with confidence.

In addition to learning more about the English language, its grammar, spelling and conversational patterns, this course will help you to improve your maths and IT skills. Higher-level students will be able to further develop thier practical skills by combining ESOL with another subject such as

Overview

Do you speak English as a second language? 

English is spoken and used every day in the business world, in top films, books and music and all across the internet. This course will help you:

  • Improve your English – reading, writing and speaking
  • Practice English in subjects like Science, Technology, Engineering, and Art
  • Learn useful skills in Maths, technology and communication

All the English and other skills you learn on this course will help with other courses you take at The Manchester College and make sure you can get a good job in the future.

English & Maths - (Full Time - 1 year)

Age Group 16 to 18 years 

Entry requirements

No specific entry requirement but you will be assessed before being placed on the appropriate level of the ESOL programme.

How will I be assessed 

You will be assessed regularly through progress reviews on all the subjects of the ESOL programme. These assessments can be project based, digital, paper based or oral.
Learners are assessed on the completion of assignments and progress are tracked on all independent learning tasks.
