Tech & Tea

Tech & Tea is a free, informal learning program designed to help Salford residents over 50 who are interested in learning basic tablet skills. This course covers essential skills such as turning the tablet on and off, connecting to Wi-Fi, and using basic functions on the device. Throughout the course, participants will also learn about staying safe online, navigating the internet, creating an email address, and using Gmail. Additionally, the course introduces digital apps such as Zoom.

The course consists of one two-hour session each week for five consecutive weeks. A Lenovo Tab M10 tablet is provided for a small fee of £30, which is paid at the start of the course. The tablet comes with a protective case and a workbook for learners to refer to as needed. If participants choose not to keep the tablet at the end of the course, they can return all equipment for a full refund.

Each session is set out in the following way:

Session 1 - Basic function of the tablet, connecting to Wi-Fi.
Session 2 - Google searching and its functions and how to download photos.
Session 3 - Emailing and QR codes
Session 4 - Zoom
Session 5 - Problem-solving using Google and/or YouTube
