About them

The WSH BME Kidney Network is a dedicated charity committed to improving the lives of African-Caribbean kidney patients and their families. Recognising the unique challenges faced by individuals living with long-term health conditions—particularly those without close family support—the organisation offers a vital lifeline through advice, advocacy, and kidney health education.

Mental health struggles are common among those managing chronic illness, and many suffer in silence for years. The WSH BME Kidney Network was established to break this silence and provide a “one stop solution” for support within the African-Caribbean community. Their mission is to dismantle the barriers that prevent access to culturally appropriate care and guidance.

Run by a passionate team of trustees and volunteers, the Network offers a range of services including:

  • Emotional and practical support for Black kidney and transplant patients and their families.
  • Guidance on navigating complex government systems and healthcare pathways.
  • Community advocacy and awareness campaigns to promote blood and organ donation.
  • Through their work, the WSH BME Kidney Network empowers individuals to manage their health with dignity and confidence, while fostering a stronger, more informed community.
